David Gentry

I like Gentry.  He has nice warm log fires and comfortable sofas in his big old house buried deep in the little streets of Arles that occupy the space on the hill between the Amphitheatre and the Place du Forum in Arles.

Gentry was Smith’s control in the SIS.  He was the organiser and planner behind all of the operations that my master was involved in.  Also a solitary sort of person, he retired to Arles just before Smith and set up an antique bookshop in his house.  Actually the last thing that Gentry wants to do is to sell any of his books.  He and my master get together periodically to talk and to play chess.  I usually sleep.  Chess had little interest for greyhounds, retired or not.

Gentry still has a large network of friends and contacts across the world of the intelligence community which, I regret to say, can occasionally be useful.
